PS5 Pro Update: Could the launch in May accelerate the release of GTA VI?
The latest indiscretions suggest that Sony is about to release an important software update for the PS5 Pro, scheduled for May 2026. This update, according to internal sources (especially Detective Seeds), would improve the performance of the mid-gen console and implement the ray tracing FSR 4, an advanced upscaling algorithm that could act as an "immediate replacement" of the current PSSR, as stated by the engineering leader Mark Cerny. The idea sounds intriguing: if Sony releases the update in May 2026, Rockstar Games could take advantage of this new hardware power to allow GTA VI (exit November 19, 2026) to turn to 60fps on the PS5 Pro, significantly improving the smoothness of the gameplay. At the moment, the Trailer 2 of the game was on a PS5 base at 1440p with active ray tracing and framerate at 30 fps. Although Sony did not provide a definitive release date for the update, speculations focus on the opportunity represented by the upcoming release of GTA VI, which could be a decisive catalyst for the launch of the PS5 Pro and its new hardware. We are waiting for further developments.
