Rockstar announces $70 million Netflix deal for the debut of the trailer GTA VI

Rockstar Games signed a $70 million deal with Netflix for the exclusive presentation of the first trailer and official announcements related to Grand Theft Auto VI. The operation, communicated at the beginning of August, sees the video streaming platform as the main showcase for the game expected by the public in November 2026. Fans interested in accessing exclusive content will have to keep a Netflix subscription active. The strategic move of Rockstar Games reinforces the commitment of the giant of streaming in the expansion of video games, especially after the huge investments that have characterized the industry in recent years. The exclusive GTA VI, one of the most anticipated titles of the last decade, consolidates Netflix’s position as a central hub for gaming news. The platform already offers adaptations of the classic mobile franchises with no additional cost for subscribers. The primary objective is to redefine the audience's perception, emphasizing the size of the catalogue over movies and TV series, positioning it as a real center of content dedicated to video games. Access to the material will be limited to Netflix users, a choice to control the dissemination of information and prevent early news leaks on social media. This approach creates a division between who can follow real-time ads through Netflix and who will have to wait. Rockstar Games provides a rigorous schedule: the trailer will be available on Netflix six hours before the official launch of the game in November 2026. YouTube will act as a secondary showcase, while viewing planning aims to target as many traffic as possible on Netflix servers during the first hours of the presentation, while increasing the inscription of new users to the platform.
