GTA VI: Classification R18+ in Australia and New Zealand – Scene di Sesso Confermate

The Grand Theft Auto VI pages on the PlayStation Store in Australia and New Zealand were updated on October 1 with the final classification of the game, highlighting a clear presence of sex scenes. The update came at the same time as the British and American cards, although this latter adopts more generic formulations. In New Zealand Rockstar Games is ranked R18+ for use of drugs, graphic violence, nudity, offensive language and, in fact, sex scenes; in Australia the card indicates R18+ with the same specifications. In the United States, ESRB has awarded the Mature 17+ rating with seven descriptors: blood and gore, intense violence, adult humor, nudity, strong language, strong sexual content and use of drugs and alcohol. This list corresponds to the descriptors already applied to GTA V in PS4 and Xbox One versions, suggesting that the new chapter could be more explicit than the previous one. The cards do not specify the sequences that have determined the evaluation or whether it is screened movies or gameplay moments. The historical comparison shows how the possibility to hire prostitutes in the series, begun with GTA III in 2001, has in the past led to targeted censures in Australia. The most well-known case remains Hot Coffee, the sexual minigame hidden in San Andreas and unlocked by a mod in 2005, which led ESRB to reclassify the game as Adults Only, the removal of GTA V from Target stores in the United States and the distribution of a clean version by Rockstar. The distinction is significant because a Mature assessment excludes the graphical representation of explicit sexual acts, despite the content may be adult and provocative. Considering that the story of GTA VI revolves around the relationship between Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos and the trailers have already shown intimate moments between the two protagonists, one can reasonably expect more curated sequences than seen in the past. Rockstar stated that he had researched strip clubs in Florida for the "documentation" of the game. ESRB should publish the detailed summary of the content in the coming weeks, offering clarifications on the nature of the scenes. In the meantime, the promotional campaign intensifies, with the sign on the Miami Heat arena and new leases in New York, in view of the planned release for 19 November 2026.
