Take-Two: “There will be no prolonged discounts” for Grand Theft Auto VI

Grand Theft Auto VI will not receive discounts for a long time, warn Take-Two CEO. The number one of the company, Strauss Zelnick, expressed the desire to maintain high prices for the purchase of the title, currently set at 80 or 100 euros. Take-Two Interactive does not plan to offer discounts for Grand Theft Auto VI in the coming months, despite the price increased in North America and the controversy related to the decision to block numerous content in the 100 euro edition. In an interview with CNBC, Zelnick explained that the price was carefully calculated and that Rockstar Games and Take-Two do not provide, at least for now, any reductions whatsoever. The CEO clarified that retailers will be free to apply promotions. “We set our price, then stores can do what they want. We have no control over this,” said Zelnick, adding that any discounts would affect the margins of traders directly. Take-Two may also include bundled deals with consoles. Zelnick recalled that Grand Theft Auto V also kept the original price "very much longer than a standard output", while admitting that the price of GTA VI "before or later" will go down. At the moment, those who want to play at Grand Theft Auto VI will have to prepare to spend 80 euros for the Standard edition or 100 euros for the Ultimate, which offers different incentives to purchase. Preorders are exceptionally high a few months from the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S release. The publisher hopes to convince more people with a dedicated event on August 27, during which gameplay and new details will be revealed.
