Martin Klíma (Warhorse Studios) hopes for an increase in video game prices thanks to GTA VI

The co-founder of Warhorse Studios and executive producer of Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, Martin Klíma, expressed his opinion on the state of the video industry and the potential impact of the price of Grand Theft Auto VI. While recognising the huge popularity of the Rockstar Games saga – admitting not to fully understand its charm – Klíma hopes for a commercial success of the title, seeing it as a "need to make industry survive". The developer believes that the introduction of a basic price of 80 dollars (up to $100 for the Ultimate Edition) can contribute to a general increase in sales prices, considered by him as a "due and fundamental" element in the face of increasing production costs. According to Klíma, companies such as Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games are among the few entities able to deal with the rise in prices without undergoing negative consequences. The idea that the market should adapt to new price thresholds finds additional support in the words of the CEO of Wardogs, the recently-successful shooter on Steam, who stressed that it makes no sense that video games continue to be sold at too low prices, given the costs and hours of fun offered. In Italy, the price of Grand Theft Auto VI remains unchanged: 79.99 euros for the Standard edition and 99.99 euros for the Ultimate.
