GTA VI Development Delays: Comparison with Monuments and Films

Rockstar Games invested an astronomical sum in the development of its new title, Grand Theft Auto VI, intended to exit on November 19, 2026. Recent estimates indicate that the entire project required approximately $2 billion, a number that feeds fan expectations and generates curiosity in the industry. To give an idea of the scope of this expenditure, we have drawn up a classification, purely illustrative, comparing development costs with some of the most ambitious projects carried out in recent decades. The overall figure has raised several questions and we have immersed ourselves in a comparative analysis, subdividing expenditure into ten categories, from iconic monuments to high-budget films, up to space missions. Many of these projects demanded significantly lower development times than the 12-year-olds used for the launch of Grand Theft Auto V. The most recent estimates show the following costs: 01 Burj Khalifa – $1.5 billion: The highest skyscraper in the world, erected in Dubai in the period 2004-2010, demanded an investment of approximately 1.5 billion dollars. Its construction, lasting six years, was an impressive engineering firm that extends for 828 meters. 02 Genshin Impact – 1 billion dollars: The popular free-to-play game represented a substantial expense, estimated at around $1 billion, thanks to its open world nature and the continuous update of its gameplay. 03 All Avatar movies – $947 million: The filming of the three chapters of the Avatar saga required a total investment of $947 million, mainly due to the massive use of innovative special effects. The fall in the box has exceeded all expectations. 04 New Horizons – $700 million: The space mission New Horizons, with its flight to Pluto and the images of the "great heart", resulted in an expense of approximately $700 million. 05 Sidney Opera House – $800 million: The famous Australian theater, inaugurated in 1973, represents an investment of approximately $800 million today. 06 Salvator Mundi – $ 450.3 million: The sale of Leonardo da Vinci's painting to Christie's in 2017 marked a historic record with the figure of $44.3 million. 07 ... ( missing information) This analysis, although it does not quantify the actual costs of GTA VI production in detail, offers a perspective on the resources needed to develop a large-scale open world game, with cutting-edge graphics and engaging gameplay. We stay up to date on further development of the project.
