Rockstar will not comment on GTA 6 Online: new revelations by Schreier

The future online component of Grand Theft Auto VI could remain the focus of Rockstar Games' attention for a long time. During a talk on Bloomberg Television, journalist Jason Schreier said that the company should not communicate its details in the near future, thus outlining the communication strategies related to the game. Schreier's statements do not constitute an official announcement by Rockstar Games and do not allow to define the current state of the project. The information is limited to indicating the moment when the company could begin to provide updates, without implying the cancellation, referral or exclusion of the mode from the launch of GTA VI. Rockstar has not yet provided official information about features, date of release, price or commercial model of a new online experience connected to the game. The official communication focused mainly on the single-player campaign and its protagonists, Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. GTA VI remains scheduled for November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. A separate launch would have already followed a precedent in the recent history of the series: GTA Online had been released a few weeks after the release of Grand Theft Auto V, in October 2013. However, this case does not allow you to anticipate the strategy chosen for GTA VI, on which Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive have not provided equivalent indications. Meanwhile, Rockstar has invested in multiplayer experiences created by the community, acquiring in 2023 Cfx.re, the group responsible for FiveM and RedM, platforms dedicated to modding and roleplay. The operation offers a context element on the activities of the company, without representing a confirmation of the characteristics foreseen for the online future of GTA VI. The current GTA Online remains active, which Take-Two said he wanted to support as long as his community continues to participate. For a new mode associated with GTA VI, official details are missing: Schreier's indication suggests that Rockstar could keep them for a long time, while every conclusion on launch, availability and commercial formula would be premature for now.
