According to an estimate of the Newzoo analysis company, the launch of Grand Theft Auto VI could become one of the most profitable events in gaming history. Analysts predict that the new Rockstar Games title will generate up to $5.2 billion in the first week, thanks to an unprecedented wave of digital preorders. Newzoo calculates that, since the opening of the preorders occurred a few weeks ago, approximately 260 million dollars have already been spent globally. The company defines “absurd” the voices according to which the game would have already exceeded the billion dollars in preorders, emphasizing that a similar figure only with the preorders is not feasible in the near future, especially considering that there are still 21 weeks to launch. The Game Performance Monitor indicates that, between the United States and the five main European markets, the title has already generated about 180 million dollars. Extending the data globally, you get an estimated 260 million dollars. Ronan Patrick from Newzoo points out that the first week of preorders saw a global digital spending of approximately $ 260 million, a bigger debut ever observed by Newzoo. This figure, considering the huge wait around the game – often considered the most anticipated title ever – suggests that GTA VI could cash between $3.25 and $5 billion in its first week of launch, approaching the $4 billion obtained by GTA V in just three days in 2013. Consumer behavior is contributing to these predictions: many users prefer the $100 Ultimate Edition than the $80 standard version.
