Rockstar Revealed Animation: GTA VI Complete 80-90% and In Test Phases

Mike York, former Rockstar Games animator, provided his estimate of the progress of Grand Theft Auto VI, stating that it is “at 80 to 90% completed” and probably already with the final content, with the team focused on testing and finishing rather than creating new elements. His words, quoted directly from an interview with Covers, reveal: "Probably they're 90% of the game and probably the content is complete, I hope, I don't know why they're not there. Often you want to be complete content, i.e. not add new animations, new features, new game mechanisms, such things. Let's hope that now they've come to a point where they're testing everything to madness, they're playing the game eight hours a day, even more, that's what I think they're doing. " York worked for Rockstar as an animator from 2012 to 2017, with contributions to Grand Theft Auto V, Grand Theft Auto Online and Red Dead Redemption 2. His direct experience of the final phase of a project allows him to understand the process of ending a game by Rockstar. He also stressed that he had no direct involvement in GTA 6. The expression "full content" indicates that all the components of the game are present: missions, characters, animations and systems. What remains is to optimize the operation of everything, a process often longer than its original creation. Despite the enthusiasm, the estimate of a “completion to 90%” a few months from the date of release provides limited and already known information. The game, with a launch date set for November 19, is being pre-ordered, suggesting a significant advance. Rockstar is unlikely to be aware of an incomplete product, given its commitment to perfection. The prediction of York, similar to that made when GTA 6 aimed at an exit date in 2025, shows how a game can reach a playable state, complete content and in-depth testing phase, while remaining beyond a year since the launch.
