Nintendo Switch 2: Rockstar does not confirm the arrival of GTA 6, but opens the door to possible tests

Grand Theft Auto VI is the most anticipated game of 2026, as well as one of the most anticipated of ever, but its arrival on Nintendo Switch 2 remains an open issue. More than anything, there have been several rumors about it, but never anything official. Asked by Variety, the new president of Nintendo of America, Devon Pritchard, has neither confirmed nor denied the arrival of the title on the console, sending the question to Take-Two and Rockstar. “Go ask Take-Two and Rockstar, but there’s nothing to announce for me at the moment,” he said. As mentioned, the theme has long circulated at least one voice considered interesting. In May 2025, NateTheHate reported that Rockstar was conducting tests to assess the feasibility of a version for Switch 2. The same leaker had, however, specified that this did not mean that the game was scheduled for the Nintendo platform, remembering that developers regularly perform tests of this type to understand whether their titles are technically feasible on different hardware. At the moment GTA 6 is confirmed only for PS5 and Xbox Series X and S, with output fixed on November 19. Looking at the story of the series, a PC version should arrive at a later time. In fact, we can give it almost for certain, as Take-Two CEO talks about the platform. That said, for now there is no official confirmation. As for Take-Two, CEO Strauss Zelnick said that the company could bring other games to Nintendo Switch 2, without clarifying whether there will be GTA 6 among them. He explained that the company “would not necessarily convert every title” on the platform, while seeing a “excellent” opportunity for some of its older games, and defined itself as a “great supporter” of Switch 2. Rockstar, moreover, already has a past on Nintendo console: GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition was released on Switch in 2021 and is also playable on Switch 2, while previously GTA: Chinatown Wars for Nintendo DS and, back time, GTA and GTA 2 on Game Boy. VERDETTO: MISTO La situazione rimane sostanzialmente nebulosa.
