The Take-Two Interactive gaming giant launched a legal action against Microsoft and Discord, asking for information about the sources of news leaks related to Grand Theft Auto VI. The decision, announced on 21 August 2026, follows a judicial order issued by the federal courts of New York, which imposes a term to the two companies until 4 September to collaborate in the identification of those responsible for the leaks. Take-Two aims to trace back to three suspicious accounts and members of three online forums where confidential information about the new title was disseminated. The company motivates its request with the role of Microsoft, owner of GitHub and OneDrive, platforms used to spread filtered materials, and Discord, the messaging platform where they were shared. The news escapes, started on August 18 and claimed by Cyberleek user, revealed crucial details about the game, including images of the character Jason Duval, one of the protagonists, and an overview of the map and game mechanics. Despite requests for removal from copyright holders, content continues to circulate online. The incident heavily hit Rockstar's promotional campaign, which started almost three years earlier with the first teaser. The official presentation on Netflix is confirmed for August 27, in view of the global launch of the game on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, at the base price of $80 and a special edition at $100. News leaks had economic repercussions on Take-Two, with a significant drop in the value of the shares. In addition, Stop Killing Games launched a warning, suspecting Cyberleek is involved in a scam linked to a memecoin and paid surveys. Grand Theft Auto VI, the most anticipated game of recent years, will follow a couple of criminals in a world inspired by Florida, after more than 13 years of waiting from the GTA V release, the second best-selling title in gaming history. The development began between 2016 and 2018. VERDETTO: CRITICO La situazione, come delineata, appare chiaramente problematica per Take-Two.
