Ex Rockstar Games Supposes that GTA VI on Nintendo Switch 2 "No Sense"

A former open world designer from Rockstar Games, Jérémy Hartvick, expressed strong doubts about the possibility of seeing Grand Theft Auto VI on Nintendo Switch 2. Hartvick, who worked at the game from 2017 to 2020, explained in an interview with Kiwi Talkz (currently private) that a porting of the Nintendo console would make no sense for several reasons. According to Hartvick, the audience of GTA VI and Switch are not necessarily the same, and fans of the game would be more likely to buy a platform compatible with the specific requirements of the title. This contrasts with the typical approach of the main Nintendo series, where a Switch purchase does not automatically guarantee the availability of equivalent alternatives on other consoles. A further obstacle underlined by the former developer is linked to technical aspects: bringing GTA VI, a huge-size game, on Switch 2 would require a considerable effort to optimize and adapt to the Nintendo console hardware, with the risk of offering a lower experience than the one expected on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. "It makes no sense to do anything to offer a likely lower experience, because it would not work exactly the same way, when you know that anyone would buy a PS5 to have your game? No!" said Hartvick. While recognizing that the idea is not "of all absurd", Hartvick remains skeptical about the likelihood of Rockstar Games taking this path, considering the resources and objectives of the new chapter of the saga.
