Do you remember the noises, fed by years of speculation, about the expected Grand Theft Auto 6? They could be largely unfounded. Jason Schreier, a well-known journalist of Kotaku and one of the most reliable sources in the industry, highlighted it with his recent information on the development of the game, which is holding fans with a suspended breath. The planetary success of Grand Theft Auto V, now a step away from 8 years, has generated an unprecedented wait among the players, and Schreier seems to suggest a decidedly different approach than the one imagined so far. The recent release of Red Dead Redemption II triggered a wave of expectations, feeding speculations on a large map, the setting of Vice City, a return to the 70s and 80s, more protagonists and, of course, a large number of unconfirmed voices. However, according to Schreier, the development of GTA 6 is still in the early stages. Rockstar Games has made a significant breakthrough, giving greater confidence to its employees and abandoning the culture of intensive work that also featured the life cycle of GTA V and Red Dead Redemption II. The new project of the American company focuses on a more targeted approach, with the aim of creating a less ambitious GTA 6 than the fifth chapter. An initial version of the setting is expected, potentially based on a smaller region such as Port Gellhorn or Grassrivers, focused on the 70s and 80s, with gameplay that will evolve over time. The idea is to develop a "Game As A Service" similar to what made GTA Online popular: a game that grows and expands gradually, offering new content and challenges to players over time. This approach contrasts clearly with previous noises, suggesting that the launch of GTA 6 could be postponed outside 2022 or even until 2023. It remains to be seen whether this unexpected strategy will prove to be successful and if Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos will finally be ready to start their adventure in the world of GTA VI.
