Rockstar announces live GTA VI on Netflix: extensive streaming gameplay
Rockstar Games finally confirmed the date of its "extended look" on Grand Theft Auto VI, an event that promises to reveal crucial details about the long-awaited game. The presentation is scheduled for August 27, 2026 at 21:00 (Italian time), and will be broadcast exclusively on Netflix. The event, called "extended look", will see Rockstar collaborate with the streaming platform to offer gameplay extended to its subscribers. After broadcasting on Netflix, the video will be available on the official channels of Rockstar Games (YouTube, website) about three hours later, at 03:00 on the morning of August 28. It is expected that this "extended look" will offer much more than a simple trailer, with developers who will illustrate the gameplay, the management of the main characters – including Jason Duval, Lucia Caminos and Cal Hampton – and the various gaming activities. According to the first indiscretions, you will try to show how driving mechanics work, vehicles (such as Vapid Stanier) and the interaction with the environment of Port Gellhorn and Grassrivers. The title will be available on PS5 and Xbox Series X, with release date set for November 19, 2026, genre action developed by Rockstar Games and published by Take-Two Interactive. Il fatto che Netflix stia ospitando questo "extended look" mi convince poco. Rockstar ha sempre avuto una certa diffidenza verso le piattaforme di streaming, limitandosi a collaborazioni sporadiche e spesso di breve durata. L’accordo con Netflix, se confermato, potrebbe segnalare un cambiamento di strategia, forse legato alla necessità di raggiungere un pubblico più ampio in un'era dominata da servizi come questo. Mi chiedo quale sia il valore aggiunto per Netflix: sicuramente l'attesa attorno a GTA VI è un forte motore, ma la semplice trasmissione di un gameplay esteso non rappresenta un titolo di streaming di per sé. Un elemento interessante è l’orario della trasmissione: 03:00 del mattino. Forse Rockstar vuole evitare una competizione con i programmi più popolari e raggiungere un pubblico più ‘nobile’, interessato a giochi come questo, magari dopo il lavoro o prima di andare a dormire. L'enfasi su Jason Duval, Lucia Caminos e Cal Hampton, pur non rivelando ancora molto sulla storia, suggerisce che l’attenzione sarà focalizzata sulle figure centrali del gioco. Il riferimento al Vapid Stanier indica un'importante componente legata alla guida e, presumibilmente, a vari tipi di veicoli da corsa o utilitari, cosa che si allinea con le dinamiche di altri capitoli della saga, come quelli ambientati a Vice City. L’ambientazione prevista – Port Gellhorn, Grassrivers, Mount Kalaga – contribuisce ad ampliare il panorama del gioco oltre le già note zone di Ambrosia e Ocean Beach, e potrebbe significare una maggiore libertà di esplorazione per il giocatore.
