Grand Theft Auto VI prepares to overcome the canons of traditional videoludic marketing. On August 6, Rockstar Games announced “Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look”, a special that will debut exclusively on Netflix on August 27 at 21:00 Italian time, will remain available on the platform for six hours and then will arrive on the official channels of the studio. The distinctive feature of this initiative is not only the exclusivity window. Rockstar intends to build a real TV show around the game, taking advantage of the Netflix format. The most interesting detail is that GTA 6 will not simply be a trailer: Rockstar is preparing a dedicated show. The statements by Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, fueled a particularly significant hypothesis. During an interview with Bloomberg, journalist Jason Schreier asked Zelnick directly if the special was designed to give spectators the feeling of watching a real Netflix program. The CEO's response was concise but crucial: “Yes.” A confirmation that Rockstar aims to create an unmissable event, exploiting the language and format of a television series. We do not yet know the specific content of the show scheduled for August 27 – it is unclear whether it is an extensive presentation of the game, an insight into the development, or a documentary that mixes different elements – but the goal seems to be to create an autonomous and usable product also by those who do not constantly follow the news on video games. Rockstar could turn the presentation of GTA 6 into a stand-alone TV event, with a careful production to capture the attention of the wider audience. With regard to the savings on the preorder of GTA 6, you can lower your spending first by purchasing the discounted PlayStation Store and Xbox Gift Cards on Instant Gaming and using the credit obtained to complete your purchase on the store of your console.
