GTA Online: What name will the Multiplayer GTA VI assume? Analysis and Speculations

On 28 August 2026, Rockstar Games has not yet released the official name of the new multiplayer linked to GTA VI. Terms like “GTA 6 Online”, “GTA VI Online” or “GTA Online 2” circulate widely among players and content creators, but none of these names were formally confirmed by the company. The name choice could reveal important details about the commercial strategy Rockstar intends to adopt for this new chapter. A name like "GTA 6 Online" would suggest a platform intended to evolve over time, maintaining a link with the traditions of GTA Online. "GTA VI Online", instead, would tie it more directly to the new mechanics and the character of Lucia Caminos, alongside it to the single-player experience centered on Jason Duval. A completely new name may indicate a different structure, orientated to creator, roleplay and user-generated content. Rockstar keeps silence. While GTA VI is described as an outgoing single-player experience on November 19, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, the current GTA Online continues to receive updates and GTA+ remains connected to the existing service. No new multiplayer, logo or launch date has been presented. The analysis focuses on possible denominations for the future GTA Online, considering how Rockstar has built the brand in the last thirteen years, the potential role of Cfx.re and FiveM, the impact of long-term strategy and the signals we should wait before considering an official name. Currently, none of the options containing “GTA Online 2” has been confirmed. This title, spread by the community, suggests a formally numbered sequel, something not foreseen by Rockstar. Until the name is officially announced via Newswire or digital stores, it will be treated as a descriptive nickname. A concrete possibility remains “GTA Online”, simple and direct, but that could be preferred by Rockstar to ensure the longevity of the service, avoiding references to specific generations of games.
