XBOX Cloud Gaming and GTA VI: denies exclusive streaming on PC

The enthusiasm for the launch of Grand Theft Auto VI, set on 19 November 2026, was braked by an announcement that had made the social media tour about an exclusive agreement between Rockstar Games and Microsoft for streaming the game through XBOX Cloud Gaming. According to some sources, the deal would have allowed GTA VI to play on PC without the need for an Xbox console. However, the statements of the Chief Strategy Officer of XBOX, Matthew Ball, have categorically denied these rumors. Ball has in fact confirmed that “though it is good to see all this enthusiasm for GTA VI and XBOX, this has also led to some wrong news.” Microsoft's strategy involves the launch of the game exclusively on Xbox Series X|S consoles on November 19, without any availability streaming on PC or via web browser. The news emerged as a result of a meeting between the CEO of XBOX, Asha Sharma, and the employees of the company, during which GTA VI would also be discussed. According to The Verge, Sharma would anticipate that Microsoft was preparing something related to the game "no other platformer holder is doing". As for the PC, Rockstar Games has not yet announced an official version of the title, with the scheduled date for launch on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles remained unchanged. The introduction of monthly limits to streaming hours on XBOX Cloud Gaming, scheduled from November in conjunction with the launch of GTA VI, represents a significant change in Microsoft’s strategy within the Game Pass service. Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will have 15 hours of streaming, the Premium plan will offer 10, while the Essential just 5.
