XBOX Cloud Gaming and GTA VI: Forget Streaming | Updates

The enthusiasm for the launch of Grand Theft Auto VI, set on 19 November 2026, generated speculations about the availability of the game by streaming. Initially, there was news that Microsoft would gain exclusive GTA VI streaming rights through XBOX Cloud Gaming, opening the way to a PC-free access and limiting access through browsers or apps. However, Xbox's chief strategy officer, Matthew Ball, categorically denied these voices on X, reasserting that the launch of GTA VI on XBOX will happen without exclusive streaming or on PC. The situation was further clarified by The Verge, a release partner of the original news. According to a meeting between Xbox CEO, Asha Sharma and employees, it was assumed that Microsoft was preparing something "no other platform holder is doing" related to GTA 6. Sharma had anticipated the implementation of monthly limits to streaming hours, variables based on the Game Pass plan signed: 15 hours for Ultimate, 10 for Premium and 5 for Essential. This change is scheduled from November, coincident with the launch of the game. The deal seems to be limited to streaming on XBOX Series X|S consoles, potentially opening the way to access via XBOX Cloud Gaming for PC users, eliminating the need to own an Xbox or PlayStation console to play streaming. The specific terms of exclusivity and duration of rights remain to be clarified, as well as the planned PC version of the game, currently only waiting on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
