Rockstar Under Accusa: Licensed Employees Protest for GTA VI – Agognito discounts?

Tensions around the development of Grand Theft Auto VI increase due to disputes regarding Rockstar employees' dismissals. Former collaborators, previously dismissed by alleged “trade unions” and “disclosure of confidential information”, are now protesting in front of Rockstar North’s corporate headquarters in Scotland and Take-Two Interactive in London. The former employees claim that they did nothing wrong, claiming that they were unjustly and deprived of the possibility of defending themselves. The protest was born of a climate of frustration due to dismissal procedures, culminated in the request for compensation for illegitimate dismissals. The situation is further complicated by statements by the Independent Workers Union of Great Britain (IWGB), led by Alex Marshall, who highlights the concern of the Rockstar leadership in the development of GTA VI. According to Marshall, the company fears discussions on the rights of workers and the need for a collective voice, thus favouring delays in the game regarding the welfare of its employees. The criticisms also extend to Rockstar's tax policies, with executives who benefited from £443 million of tax relief, highlighting an alleged disdain for law and staff. The future of Grand Theft Auto VI is now uncertain. We do not know what specific role these licensed employees were involved in the development of the game, nor if these protests and discussions will lead to a delay in the date of release scheduled for 19 November 2026. The situation remains pending and awaits further developments.
